Faceclin® Gel is produced by the well-regarded company Abbott. This innovative solution features two powerful acne-fighting ingredients:
-
Clindamycin Phosphate 1%: This topical antibiotic is recognized for its effectiveness in treating acne vulgaris. It falls under the lincosamide class of antibiotics. Clindamycin works by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria at the ribosomal level, effectively targeting the bacteria linked to acne.
-
Niacinamide 4%: Also known as nicotinamide, this ingredient boasts anti-inflammatory properties and is beneficial for conditions like bullous and skin blistering. It can enhance acne treatment through its anti-inflammatory effects and by reducing sebum production while providing moisturizing benefits.
What is Faceclin® Gel?
Faceclin® Gel features powerful ingredients, Nicotinamide and Clindamycin, designed to combat acne while moisturizing and renewing skin cells.
Nicotinamide 4%, also known as niacinamide or nicotinic acid amide, is the active, water-soluble form of vitamin B3. As a relatively new acne treatment, studies have shown it to be at least as effective—if not more so—than the widely used topical antibiotic Clindamycin, favored by dermatologists. One major advantage of Nicotinamide is that the skin does not develop resistance to it, as it functions more like a vitamin that targets inflammation directly (rather than killing acne bacteria). This means it addresses acne at an earlier stage compared to antibacterial compounds. Moreover, it often works better for various skin types than benzoyl peroxide or other traditional acne treatments.
The process leading to acne typically follows this chain: overactive sebaceous glands produce excess sebum (an oily substance), leading to the overgrowth of acne bacteria on the skin, which causes irritation and inflammation. This inflammation allows acne bacteria to colonize hair follicles, prompting the immune system to send white blood cells to the site of injury, resulting in pus-filled, inflamed pimples. To effectively prevent acne and achieve clear skin, it’s essential to disrupt this chain at multiple points.
Niacinamide distinguishes itself from other acne medications by directly treating inflamed skin. Without inflammation, acne cannot exist; the term "acne" refers to inflamed hair follicles caused by the overgrowth of acne bacteria.
- Anti-inflammatory properties
- Reduces sebum production
- Enhances skin barrier function, decreasing water loss through the epidermis and improving hydration
- Helps fade acne scars and repair damaged skin
- In multiple clinical studies, topical Nicotinamide has been shown to improve fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmented spots, redness, and skin yellowing, while also enhancing elasticity. One study indicated that Nicotinamide boosts the skin’s production of ceramides, natural emollients and protectants that improve hydration.
- Well-tolerated, with minimal risk of skin irritation.
Clindamycin 1% is the second key ingredient in Faceclin® Gel. This antibiotic targets inflammatory acne by reducing the number of acne-causing bacteria. Clindamycin also possesses anti-inflammatory effects, making breakouts less red and swollen. It's effective for treating a range of inflammatory conditions, from mild breakouts to severe acne.
However, Clindamycin alone does not prevent pore blockages, which are another critical factor in acne development. When used on its own, Clindamycin can be less effective. Therefore, Faceclin® Gel combines this antibiotic with Nicotinamide 4%, enhancing overall effectiveness. While Clindamycin works slower compared to other topical treatments, its combination with Nicotinamide significantly improves its efficacy.
A Powerful Formula for Healthy Skin
Faceclin® Topical Gel, manufactured by the esteemed Abbott, represents an optimal topical solution for acne through its triple-action formula. It merges Clindamycin, Niacinamide, and Aloe Vera to maximize benefits.
Clindamycin, a lincosamide antibiotic, addresses inflammation and redness associated with acne. Although it is effective on its own, the addition of Niacinamide enhances its impact, creating a more powerful, professional-grade formula at an affordable price.
Niacinamide uniquely contributes to skincare routines, addressing a range of skin issues. It mitigates inflammation and redness in inflammatory acne and helps prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Additionally, Niacinamide soothes skin dryness that may arise from Clindamycin use.
